Today, we talked about the article about new line of suite for blue workers. It's a new idea to break down our conventional wisdoms that manual labor needs easily movable and rough clothing. By wearing formal attires, customers can have trustful image for workers. Thinking differently can create effective solutions. Mark explained my unfamiliar words and phrases with good examples and paraphrasing them. He also gives me interesting and helpful ideas as always.

Today's article is about connection between palm oil and damage of envirnment.
As I'm interested in articles treating envirnmental issues, Mark kindly chose me it. I've never known that palm oil is widely used in many products such as shampoo, cosmetics, ice cream, soaps etc. By planting many palm trees, local flora and fauna was displaced and diversity in nature has been kept lost.
On the other side, vegetable oil is getting so popular and the demand of it is increasing. Furthermore, planting palm trees doesn't need larger space than othe vegetables such as soy, rapeseed and sunflower. So this problem has very complicated factors. Although there are so many unknow words and phrases, Mark patiently explaind me them easily to understand. And he gave me key points of this article. In this lesson we chatted about the World Cup at the begining and continued reading an article entitled 'Coming home after 130 years'. There were some new words and expressions so Mark described me in detail when I don't get the meaning.

Today, Mark chose me the interesting article about a new idea to save marine life from pollution by plastic straws. Unexpectedly, there are so many people who are concerned about the environmental contamination. They choose more expensive straws made by paper, pasta and bamboos which are degraded in the sea, thhan cheaper plastic straws which hurt marine life. That's a noble action.
Today, I memorized these sentences.

"Public pressure is growing on MacDonald's to take steps in the U.S. similar to those it has taken in Britain."

"Even companies not legally bound by the ban can no longer ignore people's concern about throwaway plastic."

We continued to read the article we did in the last lesson. Mark tried very hard to explain what the author was saying, but I was not able to understand it clearly. I felt sorry for him, also I was embarrassed that I couldn't catch the meaning. Maybe I was too tired?! Thanks anyway for the lesson, Mark! See you soon!

Lessons with teacher Mark are really fun. I could learn many things about YK through his lessons. Today's topic was about British cars, Rolls-royce,Jaguar,Land Rover that is the one he has.
I had a new recongnition that the Industrial Revolution started in Britain first.
I think Mark is a great teacher.

It was au useful lesson, as usual. In today's lesson, we read an article about hypothesis in acquisition and learning of second language. In this lesson, we started reading a new article entitled 'Coming home after 130 years'. Because there were many Greece and Syrian names, it was difficult to pronounce them. But it was an interesting article again so I'm looking forward to read the rest. Thank you for the lesson and see you again soon!

In the morning,before the class I watched old movies "Wuthering Heights" and " Jane Eyer" by Bronte.
The main character of "Wuthring Heights" is Laurence Olivier.
I could know how people in YK are proud of him. But for me he was only familier with Vivien Leigh in love.
Mark said that Olivier was the gratest actor in the world.
But for me "Scarlet O'Hara performed by Vivien Leigh is more impressive than olivier.
It was very interesting topic though.

Today's lesson with Mark was beneficial, as usual. I'm sure he offers you valuable lessons! I'm very thankful that he always tries teach me something new; new words or common phrases.

We finished reading an article 'I was a teacher for 17 year but couldn't read or write'. There were some expressions I wasn't familiar with so it was interesting to know about them.
