Mark, I bought the DVD of "Darkest Hour" to watch the movie again. Gary Oldman looked rather cheerful at the beginning of the movie, naturally, with reaching the position of prime minister at last. However, after learning looming danger Britain was facing at Dankerk, he lost his arrogance (& confidence) only to almost give up the fight against Nazi: it is a fact recently revealed, according to historians. That makes me wonder what would happen if Churchill had made peace with Germany, even temporarily, as Chamberlain had insisted. Would be the world a dark world as "A man in the high castle" describes? Or rather, German government might have collapsed after Hitler's death? Interesting questions well up. Imagining "If" worlds always fascinating. |

Today we talked about comedy or jokes becauze I'm going to make a speech whose theme is what is laughing. He told me styles of comedy such as obvious comedy, physical comedy, slapstic comedy, subtle comedy, stand-up comedy,,,etc. The point of laughter depends on each person's background and there are many kinds of comedy style. I enjoyed talking about intereting sense of laughter. |

In this lesson, I asked Mark to review my next speech that has been brought forward 2 weeks. I was disappointed that there were several words that didn't fit the bill in my speech. I looked up thesaurus to find new words to get rid of repetitiveness, but it didn't work properly. But it was good that I could learn differences betoween synonyms. Thanks, Mark! |

Today I asked Mark to be my guinea pig and practiced for my tour for tommorow. It was worse than I had expected. Mark encouraged me with warm words. It was very helpful that I was able to know which parts were unclear for a guest. I think his advice will do the trick tomorrow! See you soon, Mark! |
