My hip-joint is getting worse these days. So today's topic started about joints. Joints getting worn-out as we get older. When bones get rubbed,I feel much pain.
The only way to improve such problem is joint-replacement surgery. Mark said "that's a big sugery!"
I think I must keeo my hip-joint from getting worse. I am scared of such surgery.
Then he asked how cold Japan was.
It is about minus 17 degrees celsius
especially during the night in Czech.
He said he could walk on the ponds in his garden.
Theans to Mark I am getting more confident in speaking English.

I am sorry that this lesson did not meet the students expectations. As the student did not want to take part in any self introductions or small talk at the start of the lesson, it was difficult to make her feel relaxed or to build any kind of rapport with her. This was made even harder by the fact that she did not use a camera. I did my best to give her the best lesson possible but it was not easy to know how she was feeling because I could not see her. I would recommend that she uses her camera and engages in some introductions and small talk with her tutors so that she can have more constructive, useful and engaging lessons in the future. Thank you.

Today, we talked about the article "Women's rights in Saudi Arabia,,,". I was surprised to know that there is still such a country where women have less freedom to choise their action and they have to obey orders from male family members or male relatives.

It was our first lesson tonight. I enjoyed talikng with you. We talked about various things with each other. I'll do my best on practicing English language to improve my English skills. Thank you and see you again!

I enjoyed small talks with Mark as useal. I could learn how to use to say things in English through conversation.
I am especially happy when I remembered the ways of saying that I had learned in the past.

I was surprised to see that Japan is ranked in 110 place on gender equality in today's article, it's so low. Officially, the government has been undertaking countermeasures to improve the situation, but the result has been marginal improvement.

We talked about flexibility of the local politics. Scotland has special service of education or health care. But,in Japan,local government cannot do such a special service. And our talk went to the Brexit again.

We talked about how difficult Eiken grade 1 test was and Mark gave me some advice. It is not only English skill that I need to focus on. I have to be much more knowlegeable about social matters or things happening in the world to manage especially the writting part. I also have to memorize obscure words to clear other parts. Today, we talked about the article stating whether peace treaty between Russia and Japan could be reached in near future.
I learned "catch someone off gurard""the benefit of the doubt",,,. Mark helped me understand them with good examples and understandable expressions.

We read two articles about sports as usual. His lesson is always interesting and fruitful. In addition to English grammar and vocabulary, he teaches me the cultural background of the articles, which is quite useful to me.

I had a fruitful lesson as usual. I learned nausea, nauseous, get through and white goods. We talked about how we prepare special foods for a special day such as Christmas or new year. Our life has been becoming super convenient but I feel a little bit sad because home-made dishes are much more tasty than ready-made dishes. Thank you, Mark. See you on Monday.

We talked about the European history. I have been teaching world history in Japan. Though Mark is not a history teacher, he is interested in history very much. So, we can talk much about history. It was a great lesson again. See you soon!

"Happy New Year"
We talked about medical service between Japan and YK.
I was surprized when I heard that YK people can take medical services for free.
But you have to go to your general practitionner first when you have somerhing trouble on your body. Only in the case he or she found your disease is serious,they'll arrange you to a specialist.Then after a few days the specialist call you to come.
On the other hand we can visit any specialists when we want to see a doctor.
Countries aside from Japan there is a great difference brtween family doctors and specialists.
I think we have very good medical services in Japan. And the bill of the medical cares are much cheaper.
But problems are people visit doctors too often even though they don't need it.
Or,doctors can accept patients even though they are not sick.
The more they accept patients, the more they make money.

Today, we talked about the article of how to spend the life after retirement. Even for the elderly, working makes them active and positive or volunteering also makes them feel happy. As always, Mark explained me unfamiliar words and expressions such as "well-deserved""entrench""septuagenarian""to get under someone's feet""stand on""lollipop man""hymns""sermon""congregation",,,.
He kindly teaches me basic and deep meanings of words and expressions understandably and diverse ideas.
