This was our first lesson. We read Lesson 21 together and Mark taught me how to use "by any chance". Then we did role play practice, in which I bumped into a colleague whom I'd seen but never talked and I started the conversation. It's a challenging but fun. We also discussed about how hard it is to strike a balance between being friendly with coworkers and keeping a right distance from them. It was my pleasure to meet you, Mark.I learned a lot today. 初レッスン。お互いに自己紹介しつつ、Brexit と US travel ban の話題へ。第一次大戦前後の社会構造の変化に興味があり、イーヴリン・ウォーとE.M.フォースターが好き、でもダウントン・アビーは嫌いという、渋いお好みの方でした。ビジネス・パーソンらしく若干抑えた感じだったものの、なかなか面白そうな人です。

Today, we talk about homeshare with elderly landowners and young tenants that can solve lonliness and inconvenience for the elderly and offer spacious living space and family atmoshpere to young people. It would be idealistic living style if best mach will be chosen. Interesting idea.
Mark gave me a lot of paraphrased expressions and new words and phrases such as "be compatible" "get on with""donwside""upsides""keep my fingers crossed for you",,,,etc. Thank you, Mark for usual inspiring lessons!

We read the article about capital punishment. I've never known that 2/3 of the world nations have abolished the death penalty and EU has requested that Japan should abolish the system.
