I scheduled two lessons in a row. This time, we learn that the Myanmar military junta executed four pro-democracy campaigners. The execution was Myanmar's first since 1990 and the first of a political prisoner since 1976. In his remarks, Foreign Minister Hayashi also lambasted the military dictatorship. The Japanese government, however, did not issue a statement between the time it became clear that the four men would be slain and the moment they were executed. |
