We talked about the official language of the U.S. What is the "official language" of the U.S.? Although most people assume that it is English, which is of course the most common language, there is no mention at all in the U.S. Constitution of any official language. I completely thought that it was English until recently. The U.S. operates under a federal system where most powers and decisions are passed down to the state level. It is thus up to each state to decide its own official language. Currently, however, only about 60% of the states have laws that declare English as their official language. Moreover, I was really surprised at the fact that native speakers in the U.S. only know about four percent of English words. I might know more about English words than them. After that, we talked about the problem of the difficulty of Japanese for care givers from overseas. They have to pass the exam of care givers in Japanese in order to get care givers' certification of Japan. It is very difficult for them to pass the test. The exam pass rate is only about 50% of technical interns in spite of lack of care givers. The government need to think about how they conduct the exam for care givers in order to increase the number. Thank you so much for the wonderful time as always.
